Why This Feature Means So Much to Me
For many women, surrendersounds like defeat. I’ve spent years learning that it means something very different. To me, surrender is asking for help, just enough to take one step forward. It’s the intentional release of fear, perfectionism, comparison, jealousy and the need for control, so we can trust God and take the next right step.
Seeing that message shared with women everywhere is a true answered prayer.
What You’ll Find in the Article
The feature tells the story behind SURRENDER: The Movement and the businesses I’ve been blessed to build, including:
The moment on the floor in front of my fireplace 23 years ago, when I realized the common denominator in every hard situation was me, and began praying for accountability.
How accountability led us to surrender. For years, my team and I built our work around accountability. Over time we saw that surrender had to come first: asking for help, with a willingness to do the work.
Growing up as number six of eleven in a home where prayer marked every meal, morning and night. My parents showed us how to hand over what we couldn’t carry alone. It’s also where One of Eleven Productions got its name.
Building businesses across industries. From banking and real estate to construction and media, including co-founding CAM Construction and CAM Care and launching One of Eleven Productions and 3rd Floor Studios.
Faith as a business practice. Doing the right thing, for the right reasons, for the people we serve, and holding the results loosely.
My daily ritual. Every morning, when my feet hit the floor, I begin with three words: “Thank You, Father.” Then I place the day in God’s hands, again and again, as many times as it takes.
A bridge between generations. Women of every age have something to teach one another, and that conversation begins with curiosity.
