About the Feature

Curated by Mark Stephen Pooler, CEO and founder of TMSP Agency, the feature spotlights Melissa Heathers, executive producer and author of The Book Crawl, alongside authors, speakers, coaches and creatives. Each of us shares how a book can become the beginning of something much bigger: a conversation, a community and a platform for a message worth sharing.

What I Shared

Each contributor answered three questions about authorship, visibility and the message we want to lead. Here are the highlights from mine.

Where the book began

More than twenty years ago, in a moment of personal crisis, I found myself on the floor in front of my fireplace, in tears, begging God for help. I realized the only common denominator in every difficult situation was me. By the grace of God, that moment reshaped my life.

It began a journey of prayer, accountability and a daily practice of surrender to God. That journey led me to become the compiling author of SURRENDER: The Practice.

How visibility expanded the message

Creating One of Eleven Productions andConversations with Carrollopened the door to global conversations, summits, stages, collaborations and, ultimately, our anthology.

Media gives us a powerful way to reach people who feel isolated. We get to share hope and remind them they’re not alone: we are all children of God, each person matters, each story matters, and all are deeply loved by God. Each of us can use these platforms to change the conversation and create positive impact around the world.

The conversation I want to lead

The conversation is SURRENDER and the power of the practice.

Surrender is a universal experience that connects people from every walk of life. We all practice it every day, whether we realize it or not. We surrender by choice or by force. We surrender to something, or we let go of something.

The practice is surrendering what doesn’t serve us to God, asking Him for help, and being willing to do the work. It’s life-altering, freeing, humbling and powerful.

The anthology and the movement exist to share hope and cast lifelines through individual stories.
