Why This Feature Means So Much to Me
Most of us, especially entrepreneurs, are taught to push harder, hold tighter and carry more. I did exactly that for decades, building a career across banking, real estate, construction and media. Along the way, I learned that surrender is the fullest expression of strength.
Asking for help is an act of courage. When we surrender what we can’t overcome on our own to God, we invite Him in.
What You’ll Find in the Article
How SURRENDER became a movement
The movement started with weekly accountability themes, social media reflections and ourMonday Mindsetnewsletter. In 2025, my team and I spent nearly five months focused on SURRENDER and realized it had been woven through everything we were already sharing. Once we started talking about it openly, people connected right away to the hope it offered. That became the foundation for our anthology,SURRENDER: The Practice, and the wider movement.
A message for a new generation
Many Millennials were handed a formula: go to school, get a degree, get a job, and trade joy now for security later. Many are discovering that formula doesn’t guarantee fulfillment, or even stability. I see younger generations rediscovering faith on their own terms, free of judgment and performance, and that’s right where SURRENDER meets them.
Growing up number six of eleven
In our house, storytelling was how you earned your place at the table, and listening was how you survived. There were always six people talking at once! I remember candlelit thunderstorm nights when my parents told dramatic tales while my father slipped outside, waiting for just the right moment to bang on the windows. Siblings sang made-up songs and staged plays. Magic was happening all around us.
That instinct for listening has carried me through every industry I’ve worked in. If you aren’t listening to others, how will you know what matters to them?
Faith as the foundation
I once took my faith for granted, and that season changed me. Today I’ve never understood dividing faith from work, because faith is the foundation of who we are. Prayer is woven through my whole day, including a pause at 3 p.m. for the Divine Mercy Hour.
Never carrying it alone
Surrender didn’t rid my life of struggle. Once I surrendered, I realized I was never carrying it alone. The stories I most want to share now are testimonies from people who found peace, clarity or renewed faith by releasing what they couldn’t control. Those stories are lifelines for anyone still in the middle of their own struggle.
