In this episode of Conversations with Carroll, I had the absolute joy of sitting with Melissa Heathers—author, co-author, and a beautifully grounded soul whose presence immediately invites openness and reflection. From the moment we began, it was clear this would be a conversation rooted in faith, vulnerability, and deep spiritual curiosity. Melissa shared the heart behind her book Dear Ego, Dear Heart, and what moved me most was how she described the writing not as something she authored alone, but as something she received—a divine download meant to be shared. Her words reminded me of the Psalms: honest, raw, reverent conversations that move between darkness and light, sorrow and praise, questioning and trust.

As we talked, we explored the dynamic relationship between the ego and the heart—how both are essential, and how true wholeness comes not from silencing one or the other, but from bringing them into alignment. Melissa spoke powerfully about how we are born pure, connected to love and light, and how conditioning, fear, and societal structures slowly pull us away from that truth. What resonated deeply for me was our shared belief that our trials, traumas, and moments of darkness are not punishments, but invitations—opportunities from God to question what we’ve been taught, to break false beliefs, and to return home to ourselves. Again and again, we came back to the question: why me?—and the even more freeing response—why not me?

Toward the end of our conversation, we reflected on awareness and accountability, connection and calling. Melissa shared that her deepest hope for the book is simple and profound: that it helps even one person bring their head and heart back into alignment. I shared howConversations with Carroll itself was born from a desire to see people—to witness the God-given gifts in others and create space for their stories to be told. This conversation felt like exactly that: two women meeting in faith, curiosity, and love, trusting that the right words reach the right hearts at the right time. And as always, my prayer is that if something here resonated with you, it’s because God planted a seed meant just for you.
